Proudly doing our part for Canada!
Sep 27th, 2001 Issue 36 - Vol 2
Today US President Bush told Americans that they should get back into the air and feel secure about flying.
In almost the same breath, he announced that he had given some of his generals permission to shoot
commercial airplanes out of the sky if they are considered a "threat to American cities". 'Sure makes me
feel safe in American airspace (that and all those armed Sky Marshals ready to shoot holes from the
insides of the planes)!
And what about Transport Canada's insistence that all the "new security measures" are in place and air
travel in Canada is secure? The level of paranoia that would be required, on the part of our
security personnel, in order to make air travel in Canada "absolutely safe" is beyond the imaginations of
most Canadians. Can we make such a huge shift in our thinking? Do we want to?
If we build our own "Iron Curtain" around North America, who has won?

Draft Age???
With everything that is going on since the terrorist attack on the USA, I can't help but wonder the drafting age and other similar ages.
A few other questions I have are:
Is a draft possible in Canada for the attack on terrorism?
With woman's lib., if there was a draft, would a wife and husband (mother and father) be both drafted?
I've been reading concerning other countries response on how to help the US with the war scenario but, I am unable to find how Canada fits in all this.
As for the article I just read concerning having young men and woman in the army, I absolutely agree.
I believe it should be a replacement for jail. Young offenders want to fight? Let them learn how fighting affects the world and families. Let them learn discipline, seems they did not have any at home, I know what I'm saying when I say that.
thank you
