Proudly doing our part for Canada!
Sep 12th, 2001 Issue 34 - Vol 2
This issue we join our American neighbours in mourning their terrible losses of Tuesday morning.
Our hearts go out to the many who have lost friends or loved ones. We pray that those responsible for the
heinous acts are found quickly and brought to justice. Regardless of what happens from this point forward,
life has changed irrevocably. A great civilization has lost its innocence. No more can we afford the
luxury of complacent faith in our systems of protection from terrorism. How long will it be before we
will be able to stop looking for evil in the face of every stranger?

From Jack Downey Regarding Yesterday's Travesty:
The American "Battle Hymn of the Republic" Goes something like this:
"Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord,
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored.
He has loosed the fateful lightning of his terribly swift sword…"
The terrorist curs have awakened a wrathful Giant. The Giant has drawn its terribly swift sword. There is no place to run and no place to hide. The USA Giant will hunt the terrorists down and serve them justice without mercy. Nothing can stop this Giant in its resolve to revenge the innocent citizens whose lives or loved ones lives were taken at random in such a cowardly way for no rational reason.
When the Giant has sated its wrath and revenged his people, the statue of Justice, with sword and scale, will no longer be blindfolded. She will administer a new kind of justice with far less mercy and compassion.
September 11, 2001 was an incomprehensibly horrific day. Every one of us must stand up and defy terrorism in our own society and support our Giant neighbour in its mission to seek out and destroy those who are responsible for this attack on us all. Forever onward all nations must be vigilant and protective of all citizens who wish to have security for their family and themselves.
The World has changed. There is no going back. A Giant has awakened and will, forever, when it sleeps again, have one eye open. Justice will never be blind again. Terrorism in its many inhuman forms is about to feel the wrath of a vengeful Lord descend on it. There will be no mercy.
Unfortunately, we have all been brutalized by yesterday's travesty. Civilization has become far less civilized. Humanity has become less human. Justice has become less Just.
"Vengeance is mine" says the Lord... With all due respect, not this time.
We weep in the very depth of our souls for our world and it's people

My dear Man:
I saw this piece at 6.15 AM as I gazed across as the red fingers of the sunrise began settling on a still ocean.
I left immediately to check and see if my world was as safe as it appeared.
With my head crowded with wartime thoughts I gazed at the things I am privileged to see every morning.
The boats bobbing up and down on a calm sea and two blue Herons seated on the rocks.
Beyond, before the mist settles in and blocks the view, the mountains arose touching a cloudless sky.
I strode along filled with anger in spite of the visual opulence I witnessed before me.
I could not rid myself of this monstrous wrath I feel for whoever the perpetrators may turn out to be.
I want to volunteer to be the one to take them out of our world with a burst of machine gun fire but I know there will be other zealots to take their place.
I want revenge for America against whoever committed such an act in the name of religion so perverted by mankind that they believe with such intensity that part of their reward in the Kingdom will be 70 virgins?
I cannot contain what I feel as my mind races back to the scenes of my childhood of the London blitz.
No sooner do we rid ourselves of one monster when another rears his ugly head.
I have deluded myself for 60 odd years that I am not a violent person. To learn this truth about myself,
leaves me strangely undisturbed.
The finale can only be to paraphrase your last line
"Vengeance is mine" sayeth the Lord...
With the utmost respect it must be ours from now on.
