New Poll

Sports Businesses Threaten Healthcare

In Canada over $1.2 billion in public funding comes from gambling and booze profits. A lot of it goes to Community Associations, Arts, NGO, Health care etc. There is one area the Alberta government is looking into, that is questionable at best.

The Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames claim to have financial problems. THEY ARE PROFESIONAL FOR PROFIT BUSINESSES. They want government money. The government is considering letting them have a Sports Lotto to raise money. Vancouver and most other city leagues will jump right in on this money grabbing scam.

Right now we are subsidizing through gambling profits many good projects for kids, artist, community development programs, elderly, health care etc. There are only so many Casino/Slots/VLT/Lotto dollars, by allowing businesses to siphon off some, you deplete the good work funds.

Shouldn't businesses find their own way to make a profit or get out of business!? Check out the poll - click here

Unfortunately, a bad experience for a tourist visiting Quebec

My family and myself made our first vacation trip to Canada in 1992 to Alberta, leaving me feeling that I was actually a misplaced Albertan that somehow wound up in Arizona. All vacations since have been in different parts of Canada and we have loved all of them except last year when we decided to go to Quebec.

We knew because we do not speak french that we could have some difficulties but thought that would be overcome by the helpful nature of the people we had found all over Canada in recent years.

We were wrong. What we found were some people that seemed to go out of thier way to give you a hard time. Just because we are Americans and do not speak French does not make us bad.

All we wanted to do was enjoy the beautiful city the culture of that part of Canada. We couldn't understand why the French people are so rude and uncaring to us. This has not deterred us from out vacation this year in Manitoba and Saskatchewan this year. It has taught us to stay away from the Quebec area.
