U.S. TV Shows Exclude Canadians
I feel discriminated against every time I watch a U.S. based show, such
as Survivor, the Mole, Millionaire etc., where participation is
restricted to Americans only. I still watch because the shows are well
done and provide great entertainment, but I feel like a sucker for doing
so, as I am, in fact, subsidizing their continuing discrimination. I'm
not sure what the solution is, however, here are a few suggestions.
Disallow advertising tax deductions for programs that prohibit Canadian
participation.
Complain under NAFTA, this is a restraint on free trade.
Ban these shows from Canadian networks
Levy a special tax on the Canadian networks that show these shows, and
use the money to finance a Canadian adventure/ reality series.
Complain to your M.P. and Sheila Copps.
Cheers
P.S.
I love your site.
