Prayer for Children.

I know of a Canadian Non Government Organization: partnerSHIP (sic) Society. It has provided masses of medical and educational material, Water quality items and education on health and hygiene to every continent in the world except Antarctica. There is no charge to the recipient and every thing is donated. For example, a city near Portland Oregon, USA had an under funded school. The school had a qualified French language Teacher, but no books or Teachers Aids. All these required and expensive French materials were donated by the city of Calgary schools and provided the USA teacher with the tools to open the children's minds to another language and culture. partnerShip Society operates with volunteers of all colors, races, religions, genders, sexual orientations and social and age levels. It is a micro UN. I think that, because Canada is so diversified, we sometimes tend to see the differences rather then the commonality. The society focused on less talking and more focus on the problem at the basic level.

The commonalty of partnerSHIP's volunteers is based on a touching prayer found in a box of papers and books donated by a young mother of two. The donated material contained Nurses Medical training material that had belonged to her deceased mother. This prayer was found in one of the books and was written in long hand. There was no way of tracing the young mother. She and her family were moving to Australia. Here is the Prayer for all children in every country and every home, including yours, in the small world we live in from a Canadian nurse who surely was and is an Angel!

A PRAYER FOR CHILDREN

We pray for children
who sneak popsicles before supper
who erase holes in math workbooks who can never find their socks. And we pray for those who stare at photographs from behind barbed Wire
who can't bound down the street in a new pair of sneakers --who never counted potatoes who were born in places we wouldn't be caught dead in---who never go to the circus who live in an X-rated world.
We pray for children who bring us sticky kisses and fistfuls of dandelion who hug us in a hurry and, forget their lunch money.
And we pray for those
who never get dessert
who have no clean water.
Who live in a polluted basin full of heavy metals.
who have no safe blanket to drag behind them- who have their parents watch them die- who can't find any bread to steal who don't have any rooms to clean up
whose pictures aren't on anybody's dresser- whose monsters are real.
We pray for children who spend all their allowance before Tuesday who throw tantrums in the grocery store and pick at their food-who like ghost stories who shove dirty clothes under the bed and never rinse out the tub- who get visits from the tooth fairy who don't like to be kissed in front of the carpool
who squirm in church or temple or scream on the phone
whose tears we sometimes laugh at- and whose smiles can make us cry. And we pray for those whose nightmares come in the day time- who will eat anything
who have never seen a dentist- who aren't spoiled by anybody who go to bed hungry and cry themselves to sleep, who live and move but have no being.
We pray for children who want to be carried and for those who we must-- for those who we never give up on and for those who never get a second chance-- for those we smother with love
for those who will grab the hand of anyone kind enough to offer it.
